Ishion Hutchinson, born in Port Antonio, Jamaica in 1983, studied English Literature in Jamaica before leaving his home country to continue his studies in the USA, where he has since lived.

His poetry collection, Far District: Poems (2010), won the PEN/Joyce Osterweil Award. Other honors include a Whiting Writers’ Award and the Academy of American Poets’ Larry Levis Prize. His work has appeared in Poetry, Ploughshares, Granta, The Huffington Post, Poetry ReviewPoetry International and The Los Angeles Review, among other journals and anthologies.

He is an Assistant Professor of English at Cornell University and a contributing editor to the literary journal, Tongue: A Journal of Writing & Art.
