Asmir Kujović was born in Novi Pazar in 1973 and has lived in Sarajevo since 1990.
He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo at the Faculty of Literature of the Peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He published the poetry collections "Vojni sanovnik" (Oko, Sarajevo, 1997), "Zagrobni život" (Omnibus, Sarajevo, 2000), "Vidikovac" (Buybook, Sarajevo, 2014) and "Nestorov pehar" (Buybook, Sarajevo, 2019) and the novel "Ko je zgazio gospođu Mjesec" (Vrijeme, Zenica, 2002).
He has also published essays, travelogues, short stories, literary and theatre criticism. For the novel "Ko je zgazio gospođu Mjesec", he was awarded the annual prize of the Writers' Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the best book published in 2002. A bilingual edition of his collection of selected poems entitled "The Promised Land/Obećana zemlja" (Wieser Verlag) was published in Vienna in 2005 in German and Bosnian. Poetry, prose and his essay texts are represented in numerous anthologies, reviews and panoramas contemporary Bosnian literature at home and abroad.
His poems and stories have been translated into English, German, French, Turkish, Flemish, Macedonian and Slovenian. He is also the winner of the literary award "Pero Ćamilo Sijarić" of the literary event Sandžački književni susreti.
