[Vaikka lähtisit, et sinä katoa]
finnisch | Tomi Kontio
Vaikka lähtisit, et sinä katoa,
ei aurinko ole pöydälle unohtunutta mandariinia kauempana,
eikä se kynä, joka on nimeesi takertunut
liikahda jalustaltaan.

Even if you left, you wouldn't vanish
englisch
Even if you left, you wouldn’t vanish,
the sun is no further than the mandarin left on the table,
the pen that clings to your name
won’t budge from its stand.
I’ve become a child again,
I’ve dropped my blindness like a scarf from a window
and seen that it won’t fall,
that the universe doesn’t expand
that there’s no distance between the stars
that the living are no closer than the dead,
that the globe is not round
and that everything exists
at one point: where carbon turns into
diamond, distress into word.

Tanssikaamme
finnisch | Tomi Kontio
Mikäli tanssimme
tanssikaamme lujaa ja ryhdittä,
sillä vaskinen lattia, kupera,
iskujen kolhima ilta,
laskee lyönnit ja ottaa sekunnin,
tunnin, koko yksitoikkoisen rytmin,
elämämme,
sointiaan rikastamaan:
tuuli sotkee askeleet,
kaataa kaarnahuoneet,
kulkee maiseman lävitse kuin nyppisi
kirjaimet lehdistä ja kuvat
mietteliäistä vesistä, punaisen kuun kuvat.
Anna lasikenkiesi särkyä,
lyö sääriesi viisarit
vinosti, umpimähkää
kuparin ytimeen,
kuin levoton, puuskainen tuuli:
ottakaamme kuviot tähdistä,
kengät maailmasta, vaskikengät ja
aurinkosoljet, ja avaruus,
loputon avaruus askeltemme alle.

Let Us Dance
englisch
If we choose to dance
let’s dance fast with no posture,
because the brass floor, convex,
the night dented by beats,
counts the strokes and uses the second,
the hour, the whole humdrum rhythm,
our life,
to enrich its own sound:
a gale messes up the steps,
knocks down the rooms of bark,
passes through the landscape as if plucking
the alphabet off the leaves and images off
the reflective waters, images of the red moon.
Let your glass slippers shatter,
strike your pendulum legs
obliquely, at random,
to the core of copper,
like a restless, gusty wind:
Let’s take the steps from the stars,
shoes from the world, brass shoes and
sun buckles, and the universe,
the endless universe will be our dance floor.
Coma Berenices
finnisch | Tomi Kontio
Nippu hiuksia
yöpöydällä.
Valo istuu ikkunalaudalla
ja etsii kyytiä,
sinertävä valo,
kylmä uhri Afroditelle.
Yöpöydällä
on uhri, on valoa vielä.
Berenike, äänetön
on hiustesi hohde,
äänetön kuolleiden matka
lasin taakse.

Coma Berenices
englisch
A bundle of hair
on the nightstand.
A light is sitting on the window sill
looking for a ride,
a bluish light,
a chilly sacrifice for Aphrodite.
On the nightstand
a sacrifice, the light lingers.
Berenice, silent
is the luster of your hair,
silent is the journey of the deceased
beyond the glass.
IKAROS HELSINGISSÄ

Vasta neljä tuhatta vuotta ystävänsä jälkeen
nainen hyppäsi tavaratalon kolmannen
kerroksen parvelta alas. Kun hänen
ruumiinsa mätkähti hajuvesiosaston lattiaan
kuin nyrkkeilysäkki, pysähtyivät myyjät
hetkeksi, kuin uutistoimisto, sodan ensimmäisen
ilmataistelukuvan nähdessään. Sen jälkeen
joku sanoi, mikähän hullu, ja poliisin,
ambulanssin tultua nainen peiteltiin
syksyisen ruusupenkin tapaan, ja vietiin nopeasti
pois. Muutama veritahra siivottiin. (Mikähän
hullu.) Pesuveden väri muistutti kreikkalaista
puolikuivaa viiniä. Sellaista jonka maku
on viipyvä, notkea ja hieman tamminen.
Sen jälkeen ostamisen ja myymisen hälinä
unohtivat naisen. Sairaalan ruumishuoneessa
hän makasi päivän, kaksi. Kukaan ei tullut
kysymään hänen peräänsä, Hän makasi pussissaan
arvokkaasti, selin, kuten suuret hallitsijat.
Kaikki mitä hän oli toivonut elämältä
näkyi vielä, joitakin hetkiä, vastahakoisesti
kasvoilta.

Icarus in Helsinki
englisch
Only four thousand years after her friend,
she jumped down from the third floor balcony
in a department store. When her body
thudded on the floor of the perfume section
like a bunching bag, the sales assistants stopped
for a minute, like a news agency does when seeing
the war´s first aerial battle photo. And then
someone said, some sort of lunatic, and after the police,
the ambulance had arrived, she was covered up
like a rose bed in the autumn, and quickly taken
away. A few blood stains were cleaned up. (Some sort
of lunatic.) The washing water had the tinge of
Greek demi sec wine. One with a lingering,
supple and slightly oaken taste.
And then the hustle of buying and selling
forgot about her. She was lying in hospital morgue
for a day, or two. No one came to inquire
about her. She lay in her bag
with dignity, on her back, like great monarchs.
Everything she had desired from life
was still visible, reluctantly, on her face,
for a few more moments.
[Silloin, kun sinulla vielä oli nimi... ]
finnisch | Risto Oikarinen

[When you still had a name...]
englisch
When you still had a name, you let the ice bite into the bedrock and spit out stones here and there, to the moor and maternity ward. For you so loved me, the world, that the stone carried me like a cat carries her kitten by the scruff of its neck and lets the kitten win in wrestling like a good dam or an angel, and still, in your great love you wouldn't let me go to school naked, and I pulled on the light and dark like long johns. I've slept soundly at night, but now that the dark has learned to prey and eaten himself so fat he can't even wag his tail, you ask me where I am, and with aching shoulders, with a stone as my pillow, I open my eyes on the moor, where birds nest, and I no longer have a name.
