Rolandslied
deutsch | Nora Bossong
Und gingen wir durch meine Mutterstadt
fast lautlos, sprach er nichts, als bliebe es so
ungesagt und lag in diesem Sommertag
ein heißes Flüstern, gab uns kein Baum,
kein Tunnel Schatten, ließ meine Hand von
seiner Hüfte ab und fragte er mich nach
des Laudons Grab - ich weiß nicht, glaub,
er wollte nicht mehr weiter,
mein Vater.

Song of Roland
englisch
And we went through my home town
almost silently, he said nothing, as though everything
had to remain unsaid, hot whisper
lingered on that summer day,
no tree cast a shadow, no tunnel,
he removed my hand from
his hip and inquired about the location
of von Loudon's grave – I guess, he
no longer wanted to go farther,
my father.

Im Anfang war
das Wort ein Ort. Noch
fern vom Namen
und noch ungeschieden
vom Ruch – Geist
wie Bewegung! – der Natur.
Ruht nah
dem Rätsel das die Lösung
ist. Das Knirschen
dieses oder jenes Kontinents.
Das Wummern der Meere.
Das Pochen wo
das Blut beginnt. Wo der
Ja!-Leib klart. Und
wie im Märch...
Das Spieglein an der Wand.
Wie's tobt. Die Schönheit im Auge
des Andern.

In the beginning was
the word for a berth. Farther
from the name
and still indistinguishable
from the stench – spirit
as movement! – of nature.
Close to the puzzle,
which is
a solution. The grinding
of a continent, one or another.
The rumbling of the sea.
The throbbing where
the blood comes from. Where
the Yes!-body appears. And,
like in a fairy-tale...
The mirror on the wall.
And rage. Beauty in the eye
of a bystander.
