MY BURNING HEMISPHERE / MI HEMISFERIO ARDIENTE
MY BURNING HEMISPHERE
Irony is like the time I lost two front teeth, collapsing on the street outside the drugstore, too late for refills but just in time to fall.
I ended up at Saint Vincent's Hospital in a hallway where the sunlight flickered like synapses under strobes. Now the hospital is gone, and the newspaper reports on the clinics that replaced it.
Losing the muse, I find myself siding with the lost, a damaged beauty, a music I can't manage, no words for it in either of my native tongues, rumor in both.
I'm a mirror image of a hemisphere in shards, a hum that lumbers through the warzones, an axon, an aimless song calling the fire home.
