Joanne Burns wurde 1945 in Sydney geboren und ist seit 1966 als Lehrerin tätig. Sie hat zehn Gedichtbände veröffentlicht, darunter blowing bubbles in the 7th lane (1988), on a clear day (1992), penelope’s knees (1996) und aerial photography (Five Islands Press, 1999). Ein neue Lyriksammlung, footnotes of a hammock, ist 2004 bei Five Islands erscheinen.
