Anlatamıyorum
التركية | Orhan Veli
Ağlasam sesimi duyar mısınız,
Mısralarımda;
Dokunabilir misiniz,
Gözyaşlarıma, ellerinizle?
Bilmezdim şarkıların bu kadar güzel,
Kelimelerinse kifayetsiz olduğunu
Bu derde düşmeden önce.
Bir yer var, biliyorum;
Her şeyi söylemek mümkün;
Epeyce yaklaşmışım, duyuyorum;
Anlatamıyorum.

I CAN'T EXPLAIN
الانجليزية
If I cried, could you hear
My voice in my poems,
Could you touch my tears
With your hands?
Before I fell prey to this grief,
I never knew songs were so enchanting
And words so mild.
I know there's a place
Where you can talk about everything;
I feel I'm close to that place,
Yet I can't explain
GÜZEL HAVALAR
التركية | Orhan Veli
Beni bu güzel havalar mahvetti,
Böyle havada istifa ettim
Evkaftaki memuriyetimden.
Tütüne böyle havada alıştım,
Böyle havada aşık oldum;
Eve ekmekle tuz götürmeyi
Böyle havalarda unuttum;
Şiir yazma hastalığım
Hep böyle havalarda nüksetti;
Beni bu güzel havalar mahvetti.

LOVELY WEATHER
الانجليزية
This lovely weather has brought on my ruin.
One fine day like this I quit
My job with the Pious Foundations Agency.
In such weather I got used to smoking
And on a day like this I fell in love:
It was on such a day that I forgot
To take home bread and salt;
Time and again, in this weather
My verse-making disease has recurred.
This lovely weather has brought on my ruin.
HÜRRİYETE DOĞRU
التركية | Orhan Veli
Gün doğmadan,
Deniz daha bembeyazken çıkacaksın yola.
Kürekleri tutmanın şehveti avuçlarında,
İçinde bir iş görmenin saadeti,
Gideceksin;
Gideceksin ırıpların çalkantısında.
Balıklar çıkacak yoluna, karşıcı;
Sevineceksin.
Ağları silkeledikçe
Deniz gelecek eline pul pul;
Ruhları sustuğu vakit martıların,
Kayalıklardaki mezarlarında,
Birden,
Bir kıyamettir kopacak ufuklarda.
Denizkızları mı dersin, kuşlar mı dersin;
Bayramlar seyranlar mı dersin, şenlikler cümbüşler mi?
Gelin alayları, teller, duvaklar, donanmalar mı?
Heeeey!
Ne duruyorsun be, at kendini denize;
Geride bekliyenin varmış, aldırma;
Görmüyor musun, her yanda hürriyet;
Yelken ol, kürek ol, dümen ol, balık ol, su ol;
Git gidebildiğin yere.

TOWARD FREEDOM
الانجليزية
Before dawn,
While the sea is still snow-white, you will set sail;
The grip of the oars in your palms,
And in your heart the joy of toil and vigor,
You will go.
In the roll and sway of the nets, you will go.
For welcome, fish will appear on your course
Delighting you.
As you shake the nets,
Scale by scale, the sea will journey into your hands.
When silence pervades the souls of seagulls
In the cemetery of the rocks,
All of a sudden,
All hell will break loose on the horizon:
Mermaids will scuttle and birds scurry...
Saturnalia and festivals, orgies and carnivais,
Bridal processions, masquerades, revelries, carousals...
Heeeyy!
Whaddya waiting for, man, jump in the sea!
Forget who's waiting for you back there.
Don't you see: Freedom is all around you.
Be the sail, the oar, the rudder the fish, the water,
And go, go wherever you can.
DALGACI MAHMUT
التركية | Orhan Veli
İşim gücüm budur benim,
Gökyüzünü boyarım her sabah.
Hepiniz uykudayken.
Uyanır bakarsınız ki mavi.
Deniz yırtılır kimi zaman,
Bilmezsiniz kim diker;
Ben dikerim.
Dalga geçerim kimi zaman da,
O da benim vazifem;
Bir baş düşünürüm başımda,
Bir mide düşünürüm midemde,
Bir ayak düşünürüm ayağımda,
Ne haltedeceğimi bilemem

WOOL - GATHERER
الانجليزية
This is the work I do:
I paint the sky each morning
While all you people are asleep,
You wake up to find it blue.
Sometimes the sea gets ripped;
Do you know who mends it?
I do.
At times I just daydream,
That's my job too;
I dream of a head in my head,
Of a belly in my belly,
Of a foot in my foot,
I just don't know what the hell to do.
DENİZİ ÖZLİYENLER İÇİN
التركية | Orhan Veli
Gemiler geçer rüyalarımda,
Allı pullu gemiler, damların üzerinden;
Ben zavallı,
Ben yıllardır denize hasret,
"Bakar bakar ağlarım."
Hatırlarım ilk görüşümü dünyayı,
Bir midye kabuğunun aralığından;
Suların yeşili,göklerin mavisi,
Lapinaların en harelisi...
Hala tuzlu akar kanım
İstiridyelerin kestiği yerden.
Neydi o deli gibi gidişimiz,
Bembeyaz köpüklerle, açıklara!
Köpükler ki fena kalpli değil,
Köpükler ki dudaklara benzer;
Köpükler ki insanlarla
Zinaları ayıp değil.
Gemiler gecer rüyalarımda,
Allı pullu gemiler,damların üzerinden;
Ben zavallı,
Ben yıllardır denize hasret

SEA NOSTALGIA
الانجليزية
Vessels sail along my dreams,
Over the roofs, ships in a feast of color,
And poor me,
Yearning for the sea year in year out,
I gaze and weep.
I recall my first sight of the world
Through a mussel shell I pried open:
The greenest water and the bluest sky
And the rippliest of lump-fish...
My blood still flows salty
Where the oysters slit my skin.
What a madspeed plunge was ours
Into the high seas on the whitest foam!
Foam bears no malice,
Like lips
Whose adultery with men Is no disgrace.
Vessels sail along our dreams
Over the roofs, ships in a feast of color,
And poor me,
Yearning for the sea year in year out.
SAKAL
التركية | Orhan Veli
Hanginiz bilir, benim kadar,
Karpuzdan fener yapmasını;
Sedefli hançerler, üstüne,
Gülcemal resmi çizmesini;
Beyit düzmesini;
Mektup yazmasını;
Yatmasını,
Kalkmasını;
Bunca yılın Halimes'ini
Hanginiz bilir, benim kadar,
Memnun etmesini?
Değirmende ağartmadık biz bu sakalı!

THE BEARD
الانجليزية
Which one of you can make
Jack-o'-lanterns the way I can
Or carve on them
The picture of a grand old ship?
Or write poems
And letters?
Or lie down
Or get up
Or satisfy my girl friend
The way I can?
It wasn't for nothing that my beard turned grey.
BÜYÜK İNSANLIK
التركية | Nâzim Hikmet
Büyük insanlık gemide güverte yolcusu
tirende üçüncü mevki
şosede yayan
büyük insanlık.
Büyük insanlık sekizinde işe gider
yirmisinde evlenir
kırkında ölür
büyük insanlık.
Ekmek büyük insanlıktan başka herkese yeter
pirinç de öyle
şeker de öyle
kumaş da öyle
kitap da öyle
büyük insanlıktan başka herkese yeter.
Büyük insanlığın toprağında gölge yok
sokağında fener
penceresinde cam
ama umudu var büyük insanlığın
umutsuz yaşanmıyor.

GREAT HUMANITY
الانجليزية
Great humanity sails on ships as deck passengers
rides trains third-class
travels highways on foot
Great humanity goes to work at the age of eight
marries at twenty
dies at forty:
great humanity.
There is enough bread for everyone except great humanity
rice too
same with sugar
and cloth
books as well
there is enough of them for all except great humanity.
There is no shadow on the ground of great humanity
no lamps in its streets
no pane in its windows
But great humanity has its hopes
there can be no life without hope.
