La mort sobrevivent
Hi ha una manera de pensar la mort
en què la mort mateixa ens atenalla,
com si fóssim nosaltres el record,
com si fos ella la que ens pensa i mana.
Hi ha una manera de pensar la mort
que és com viure-la abans de la mortalla,
sentir-ne el fred amarg a dins del cor
i ésser el cor de la mort a la vegada.
Veure’ls el pare i el fill d’un mateix
i esdevenir un mateix vivent cadàver;
mirar amb ull gèlid el passat on neix
el futur ja marcit de l’esperança.
Estrangular el futur amb el passat,
orfes de temps i orfes d’eternitat.

Death, the survivor
There is a way of thinking death
in which death itself clutches us
as if we ourselves were memory
and he were to think and command.
There is a way of thinking death
living it long before the shroud,
feeling the cold pollen in our hearts
and being the heart of death as well.
Seeing them father and son of oneself
and becoming onself a living corpse;
staring at the past with frozen eyes
where the future is born of withered hope.
Strangling the future with the past,
orphans of time and the everlasting.
