Volha Hapeyeva (born in 1982 in Minsk) studied Linguistics in Minsk and Gender Studies at the EHU-International Vilnius. Since she did her Ph.D. in comparative literature and typology, she works as a university teacher at the University of Minsk.

She researches on bodily self-mutilation and self-modification, and is also interested in the gender problem in culture and literature.

Hapeyeva took part in many literature festivals, both domestically and abroad, and she is a member of the Belarussian PEN-center.

She writes poetry, prose, dramas and translations. Several of her texts were published in English, German, Polish, Macedonian, and Czech.

In 2009 she got a grant from the Literary Colloquium Berlin and in 2010 she was awarded a sholarship from the International House of Writers and Translators.
