Valzhyna Mort born in 1981 in Minsk, Belarus, is a poet and translator.

Graduated from Minsk State Linguistic University with major in English. The texts has been published in various literature magazines, collective books and anthologies such as “Anthology of Belarusian Poetry” (Sofia, 2000), “Frontlinie” (Minsk, 2002), “12+1” (Minsk, 2004), “A Poem for Liberty” (Minsk, 2004) . Participant of many local and international festivals. Her first book of poetry “I’m as Thin as Your Eyelashes” is to be published at the end of the year of 2004. The winner of several poetry competitions in Belarus. In summer of 2004 received the Crystal of Vilenica Award ( Slovenia). Valzhyna Martynava has translated poetry of Rafal Wojaczek, Leonard Cohen and recently Ted Hughes. Her own poetry has been translated into Ukrainian, Polish, German, Bolgarian, Lithuanian, Swedish.
