Ruth Lasters was born in 1979 in Antwerp. She studied Romance Philology at the University of Brussels. A period of time she lived in Madrid, but returned to Belgium again, where she lives as freelance writer and teaches French. Her first novel Poolijs (Eng. polar ice) got the Flemish debut price in 2006. 2010 her second novel Feestelijk zweet (Eng. festive perspiration) was published. Till now Vouwplannen (Eng. folding maps) is her only volume of poetry.
