Mindaugas Valiukas is a poet, prose writer, and playwright. He majored in Lithuanian philology and directing at Klaipėda University. First publications of his poems appeared in 1991 in the youth journal Moksleivis (Pupil). In1994, Valiukas won the poetry section of the Young Philologists’ Contest of the Republic. In 1996 he became a laureate of the Lembertas Contest, and in 1999 he was awarded the Zigmas Gaidamavičius-Gėlė Prize for the year’s best debut Mėnulio keramika (Lunar Ceramics), his first collection of poetry.

Valiukas lives in Klaipėda.
