Miljana Cunta was born in Šempeter pri Gorici (then Yugoslavia) in 1976 and moved to Ljubljana in 1995. She has published three poetry collections so far: "Za pol neba" (To Half the Sky, 2010), "Pesmi dneva" (Day Poems, 2014) and "Svetloba od zunaj" (Light from Outside, 2018), which were nominated for the most important Slovenian poetry awards. Selected poems have been translated into eight languages and she has presented them at festivals in Slovenia and abroad.

Miljana Cunta graduated in Comparative Literature and English Studies from the University of Ljubljana. She worked as an editor and cultural manager. She was programme director of the literary festivals "Vilenica" and "Fabula". She occasionally translates poetry from English (Christina Rossetti, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Denise Levertov) and from Italian (Patrizia Cavalli, Alda Merini, Luigi Natale, Francesco Tomada). In 2018, she was a guest columnist for the Slovenian daily Delo.
Currently she works as an editor at the publishing house Slovenska matica and teaches creative writing courses.
