Maya Sarishvili was born in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1968.

Her poetic works have been published since 1990. She won Georgia’s most prestigious literary award, the SABA Prize for Poetry, in 2008, for her collection Microscope. She is also the author of Covering Reality (2001), another poetry collection, as well as four radio plays. “Three buckets of snow” was awarded as the best radio-play in 1997 in a Georgian-German competition of radio-plays.

She has taken part in various international festivals: Poetry International (Rotterdam, Netherlands, 2007), SOTZIA (Tallinn, Estonia, 2008), Poetry Parnassus (London, UK, 2012) and has been invited to Portugal, to the seminar of translators, where her poems were translated to Portuguese (Casa de Mateus, 2007.)

Her poems have been translated into 13 languages.
