Kayoko Yamasaki, born in Japan in 1956, is a poet and literary translator, living in Belgrade since 1981.
She graduated in Literature from the Faculty of Philology at Hokkaido University, and made her PhD at he Faculty of Philology in Belgrade, where she works as the professor of Japanese language and literature. She writes poetry and essays in Japanese as well as in Serbian, and is a member of Serbian Literary Society. Six of her poetry collections have been released in Japanese and six in Serbian.

Yamasaki has translated works of many Serbian poets (Desanka Maksimović, Stevan Raicković, Miloš Crnjanski etc) and several novels of Danilo Kiš into Japanese: Rani jadi (Early Sorrows, 1995); Enciklopedija mrtvih (The Encyclopedia Of The Dead, 1999); Bašta, pepeo (Garden, Ashes, 2009).

She is also the author of a few collections of essays, as well as studies about Japanese Avantgarde poetry.
She has won the annual award for translation into a foreign language 1995/96 of the Serbian P.E.N. Center, the award for translation into a foreign language of the Association of literary translators of Serbia (2011), the Morava Charter for world poetry (Belgrade, 2011), the Yomiuri Prize for literature (Tokyo, 2015) and the Milica Stojadinović Srpkinja Prize for Serbian poetry (Novi Sad, 2015).
