Jure Jakob is a poet, born 1977 in Celje. He got his MA in comparative literatura from the Faculty of Arts at the University in Ljubljana, where he's lived for the last years as a freelancer. In 2010 he published his book of essays on the work by Lojze Kovačič, titled The Child's Gaze, whereas his poetry has been published in four volumes. His first poetry collection had a quiet, yet profound impact on Slovene poetry in general. It was awarded the Zlata ptica award and an anthology of younger Slovene poetry got its title from one of the poems in this collection. The book was reprinted in 2009. His other poetry collections include Budnost, Zapuščeni kraji and Delci dela. He is widely considered as one of the most important new voices of Slovene poetry.
