Jana Orlová is a poet, performance artist and researcher. In Czech, she has published three books of poetry: “Sniff the Fire” with her own illustrations in 2012, “Újedě” in 2017 and “You Won’t Run Away” in 2022. Her works appeared in the “Best Czech Poems” anthology in 2014 and 2018. She released selections of her poetry in Polish in 2021, Ukrainian and Romanian in 2019. In 2020, she released an English ebook in India. Her poems have been translated also into Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic, or Italian.
Orlová treats performance art as living poetry. She gained the “Breakthrough Act Award 2017” at Next Wave Festival for “crossing the boundaries of literature, fine art and theatre naturally and with ease”. The Dardanica Prize followed in 2020.
Her theoretical and artistic background enables her to work both as a curator and art critic. In late 2021, she earned a PhD. degree at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (theory department). As a researcher, she is focused on performance art and borderline art forms.
