Gankhanani Moffat Moyo was born on March 10, 1980 in Lusaka, Zambia. He studied English at the University of Zambia and graduated with distinction. As a result, Moyo was asked to stay as a trainee lecturer, while also being awarded a fellowship to read English at the Masters level.

Apart from teaching Drama and Literature at the University of Zambia and other higher learning institutions of the country, Gankhanani has worked with the British Council as a national mentor in poetry, creative writing and story telling. Moyo started the 'Young Writers’ Association' in Zambia in 2001.

In 2005, Moyo participated in a number of performance poetry, dance, and theatre events in Finland. Since 2005 Moyo has been the editor the literary e-magazine Echoes of Tomorrow, which has accrued a readership of more than 10, 000 worldwide.
