Eva Cox (1970) began writing poetry early in 1999 and made her début later that year as a performing poet. After a number of performances she entered Flanders’ first poetry slam competition, and triumphed over the opposition.

Cox writes rattling rhymes and slanging verses that work well on stage, and builds an alienating atmosphere in more carefully written, delicate texts. Her first poetry collection Pritt.stift.lippe. (2004) was nominated for the C. Buddingh' prize and awarded with the largest grant for a literary debut by the Flemish Literature Fund.

In 2009 Cox's critically acclaimed second collection een twee drie ten dans (one two three let’s dance) was published by the publishing house Bezige Bij.

Eva Cox has taken part in poetry festivals and readings in Canada, Turkey and Wales. Her poems have been translated into French, English, German, Russian, Turkish and Arabic.
