Athena Farrokhzad is born 1983 in Iran. A couple of years later she came to Sweden and grew up in Göteborg.

She has been writing in groups such as G=T=B=R=G which also have published the book Ett tunt underlag. She is working as literary critic at the newspaper Aftonbladet, teaching creative writing at Biskop-Arnö, has been the editor for a number of different reviews and is organizing a number of literary festival.

The last year she has organized and participated in an exchange between Swedish and Iranian female poets and in 2013 she translated the Romanian poet Svetlana Cârstean into Swedish.

In 2013 her first book of poetry under her own name was published, Vitsvit. A book celebrated by the critics and loved by the readers and it was also nominated for best book of the year. As of 2018, Vitsvit has been translated into 12 languages.
