Anna Terék was born in 1984 in Bačka Topola, Vojvodina, Yugoslavia. She completed elementary school in her hometown and secondary school in Subotica. She then moved to Budapest, where she completed her studies in psychology, school psychology and psychological counselling at Eötvös Loránd University in 2012. She has been working as a school psychologist in Budapest since 2015.

Her debut album Mosolyszakadás (interrupted smile) was released in 2007. In 2011 she followed Duna utca (Duna Street), for which she received the Ervin Sinkó Prize in the same year. Her first play was Jelentkezzenek a legjobbak! / Neka se jave najbolji! (Apply for the Best! / Make the Best Appear!) was premiered in Serbia in 2013 at the National Theatre in Novi Sad. In 2016 she published her drama Vajdasági lakodalom (Wedding Celebration in Vojvodina) and in spring 2017 the poetry collection Halott nők (Dead Women) appeared.

In 2017 Anna Terék was awarded the Book Academy Prize of the Hungarian Academy of Arts.
