Two poems from transluçines from the Ajuda Codex by Calgarii Mourii [1]

1

[B]y mine own eyes i saw her there
with terror. and weighed grief and so lit
tle ple asure. that seeing s craved
by eyes and yet what good is it when I
see my lovely not at all. [&] not
my right to lament thus without end
but oh a sorry day when I with my eyes saw.
for through them I saw so very well much
and the grief they made me suffer
d’abord la répétition en soi, ainsi la répétition au coeur de l’avenir, possibilité brève d’émettre,
cette forme l’alternative, « espérance » entre l’avenir et le passé, ce que
and the grand heartache is not speakable.
and i will lament no longer here.
it s not my right to lament thus without end
and the lovely one these eyes showed me
of so many women god wished to create
well spoken and of fine appear
and why do i die not daring to speak
it s not my right to lament thus without end
