Mark van Tongele was born in Flanders in 1956. He is regarded as the insider tip of Dutch poetry. Tongele is convinced of the power of the word and it does not surprise one that his poetry is like a linguistic waterfall, a scream for action: language is life. In his poetry Tongele combines different elements of Realism, Experimentalism and Post-Modernism. He also is interested in “digital poetry”, used by a computerized society. That is the reason why Tongele also took part in the Belgian Dicht/Vorm, which was a crossover-project bringing together poetry and animation, where filmmakers were invited to choose one poem to turn it into a film.
