Thomas Boberg was born on 5 July 1960 in Roskilde, Denmark. In 1980, he travelled in the US, and since then he has made several journeys, primarily to South America.

He published his first volume of poems, Hvæsende på mit øjekast (The Hissing on My Glance), in 1984. Besides several volumes of poetry, Boberg has published two volumes of travel accounts, Sølvtråden (The Silver Thread) in 1996 and Americas in 1999. In the mid-eighties, he moved to Barcelona, Spain, and since 1991 he has lived in Lima, Peru.

Prizes include: Johannes Ewald Award, Morten Nielsen Award, Otto Gelsted Award and Henrik Pontoppidan Memorial Award, Lifelong Grant of Honour from the Danish National Endowment for the Arts.
