Johannes Kühn was born on February 3, 1934 in Bergweiler, Germany. From 1955 to 1958 he studied at the actors’ studio in Saarbrücken. While still working as a helper in his brother’s building company, Kühn started writing dramas, poems and fairy tales. Unfortunately, his works remained without success in the beginning.

Kühn spent many years on wanderings through his country and transformed his collected impressions into poems and stories, which gained him first national recognition. Nonetheless, Kühn started writing less and less in the early 1980s till he finally had stopped working as a poet altogether. From 1992 onward, however, he picked up writing again. The editions of his poetry of the late 1980 have been critically acclaimed. Kühn’s work has since been honored with numerous awards.
