Jo Eggenwas born on 26. April 1952 in Lillehammer.

He has studied French, Russian, Tcheque and English and has written his Master Degree in Scandinavian Literature on Olav H. Hauges.

He made his debut in 1980 with the collection of poems Ting og tings skygger, for which he was awarded with the Tarjei Vesaas´ debutantpris. He has published seven collections of poems and one translation of Russian poets.
